Lower Mustang Biking
The Ultimate Mustang Bike Ride: Gravel & Cross-Country Excellence
Experience the raw, untamed beauty of the Himalayas on a journey through Lower Mustang, Nepal’s premier destination for high-altitude cycling. Known as the “Forbidden Kingdom’s gateway,” this region offers a world-class playground that bridges the gap between Gravel grinding and Cross-Country (XC) adventure.
Why Ride Lower Mustang Biking?
Lower Mustang is a topographical masterpiece. The region sits in the rain shadow of the Annapurna massif, creating a high-desert lunar landscape that remains rideable even when the rest of Nepal is in monsoon.
-
The Gravel Paradise: For those who crave the “Long Game,” the wide, flowing jeep tracks and ancient salt-trading routes provide the perfect rolling resistance for gravel bikes. The vast, open valleys of the Kali Gandaki riverbed allow for rhythmic, high-cadence efforts against a backdrop of 8,000m peaks.
-
The XC Challenge: Cross-Country riders will find their thrill in the technical climbs and rugged ridgelines. The terrain demands physical endurance and lung capacity as you navigate a mix of hard-pack silt, loose river stones, and ancient singletrack connecting medieval villages like Kagbeni and Marpha.
What to Expect:
-
Epic Scenery: Ride in the shadow of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri, traversing the world’s deepest gorge.
-
Cultural Immersion: Pedal through Apple orchards, visit centuries-old monasteries, and stay in traditional Thakali teahouses.
