Namo Buddha Biking Pilgrimage | Sacred XC Trails of Kathmandu

Namo Buddha Biking Pilgrimage

This three-day XC journey is a “spiritual shred” through the sacred eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley. More than just a ride, it is a high-altitude pilgrimage that connects the medieval Newari architecture of Bhaktapur with the serene heights of Nagarkot and the profound tranquillity of Namo Buddha. Riders will traverse lush pine forests, steep terraced farms, and ancient “hollow” trails where the only sound is the rustle of prayer flags. The journey culminates at the legendary site where Prince Mahasattva offered his flesh to a starving tigress—a story that echoes through the chanting halls of the monastery today.

Namo Buddha Biking Pilgrimage

To relaunch the Namo Buddha Biking Pilgrimage, we have modernized the route to embrace current developments in the Kathmandu Valley while preserving its spiritual and physical core.

The 2026 adaptation moves away from the now-congested main roads and leverages the network of scenic “jeep tracks” and singletrack ridges that have become the hallmarks of modern Himalayan XC riding. We have also updated the highlights to include contemporary landmarks like the Sanga Shiva Statue (the world’s tallest of its kind) and the thriving Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery.
